Choice of Harley-Davidson bike

on Route 66 in the U.S

Our partners in the U.S are Eagle Rider Motorcycles, the world’s largest motorcycle rental company. We have known the staff for over 7 years, and can guarantee the best Harley-Davidson bikes along with the best possible service.

On long road trips like ours, it is important to choose comfort above design to ensure that you get the best touring bike. The original Harley-Davidson models on the Route 66 tours are Electra Glide, Street Glide, and Heritage Softtail. If you are travelling with a passenger, you should choose Electra Glide. If you are under 175 cm. in height, we recommend Street Glide if you are riding on your own. If you are female, we recommend Heritage Softtail. as it is considerably lighter and lower in height.

If you have any special requests about the bike, please contact us in good time when you book the trip.

Choice of BMW bike

in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia

In South Africa, we are partners with Motorrad BMW. Our tourleader strongly recommend riding a BMW bike on these road trips, as getting Harley-Davidson bikes in the condition that we require for our tours is hard to aquire in these countries. Another reason is the conditions of the roads on parts of the tour. The BMW F800 GS and the BMW R1200 GS are the most common choice of bikes. If you want to ride the BMW R1200 RT model, you need to book it very early.

It is possible to ride a Harley-Davidson bike in South AfricaNew Zealand and Australia to a higher price. (You have to book very early) Contact us for more information if you want to ride a Harley-Davidson bike instead.

  • All BMW bikes comes with a top box.
  • If you are under 175 cm, contact us for setting up a bike with a low frame.
